The
log home building process is often a time of uncertainty for many new
home builders. Logcrafters likes to make this process as easy and simple
as possible. Our 20 years of experience enables us to assist you with
any problem that may arise during the building process.
Initially Logcrafters works with you to determine
what your design criteria is and how we can incorporate these into our
building techniques. This will take into account certain factors such
as terrain features, number of bedrooms, whether you desire a single
story, balconied home or full two stories. In order to start, all we
require is a rough floor plan, or better yet a set of plans. After these
determinations are resolved, we can give you a rough estimate of the
cost of the Logcrafters log package. Upon mutual satisfaction of your
plans and estimate, our drafting department will create "shop"
drawings and/or full plans. These plans will be submitted to your local
building/planning department for review. If an engineering review is
required this is done at this time also.
Upon receipt of the initial deposit and plan
sign-off Logcrafters is ready to begin actual construction of your log
package. Your home is actually built in our yard prior to shipment.
That way we know that each piece fits properly. Custom king post trusses
and other precision fitting pieces are "dry-fitted" in our
yard. Each log and timber piece is numbered to match our shop drawings.
After everything is fit, the house is disassembled and each piece is
hand-hewn by our expert hewning crew with traditional foot adzes.
After all the pieces are assembled in units
(bunks, as we call them), each bunk is assigned a number and a manifest
of all the pieces in it. This aids whoever reassembles your home to
find all the pieces. At a prearranged date the log package is loaded
on to a semi-trailer truck for delivery to your building site. As a
customer service, Logcrafters will arrange for the shipping.
Once your log package arrives it is unloaded
and the reassembly process begins. You will have a contractor who has
prepared your foundation, sub-floor and all other site preparations
(unless you are a do-it-yourselfer). Logcrafters provides a reassembly
manual with the log package. Logcrafters also offers an independent
representative that can come to your site to assist in the reassembly.
You can choose to use one person or they can supply an entire crew to
set up your log package.
Logcrafters, staff is always available to answer
any questions that you may have during the building process.
