Piece-en-piece
building is yet another style in which we specialize. While French
and English fur trappers brought post and beam log construction
form Canada, this Scandinavian method using notched, horizontal
logs prevailed throughout the American frontier. Piece-en-piece
construction consists of vertical posts, both intermediate and at
the corners, with a fill of hand-hewn log walls. This style of building
is useful when you desire solariums, bay windows, wing type floor
plans, or areas of future expansion. Piece-en-piece style gives
you the intricate craftsmanship of timber frame corners, floor and
roof systems, with the thermal protection and beauty of the hand-hewn
square log walls. |
