An
additional building style offered at Logcrafters is hand-hewn post
and beam, timber frame homes. Timber frame became a popular form
of construction in 1600 Western Europe due to their declining timber
and building resources. Scandinavian settlers introduced the method
of timber frame building to America and the style has prevailed
for over 200 years. We build using old-fashioned mortise and tenon
joinery of hewn timbers, constructing a structural frame of your
house. This method of building affords tremendous freedom in design,
while utilizing the rustic elegance of the hewn timbers. We incorporate
timber framing for the floor and roof systems of our log homes.
